The Jeff & Ishan Show #17 – GDN

Just dropped! Our review of GDN, a 2026 Tamil-language biopic starring R. Madhavan along with Sathvaraj, Jayaram, Privamani, Dushara Vijayan and Vinay Rai and directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar, streaming now on Netflix. Rated TV-PG. Our original theme music by Ano Malee. Tune in for a big time!

Then we go into a series of flashbacks observing his life, warts and all, including the fact that he pretty much abandoned his first wife and children, and then there’s the unfortunate photo op with Hitler, which the writer and director boldly address head on when they could have easily skipped over it…Overall it was a great movie, very educational, it taught me about this guy I hadn’t heard of before who definitely did a lot for India.

The Jeff & Ishan Show #16 – Con City

Hot out of the oven, our review of Con City, a 2026 Tamil-language crime comedy starring Arjun Das and Anna Ben, written and directed by Harish Durairaj, streaming now on Netflix. Rated MA-14. Our original theme music by Ano Malee. Tune in for a big time!

“It’s a cute movie. Really one of my favorite things was the final song that reminded me very much of early 1970s Bollywood. They’re all lip-syncing happily to voices that couldn’t possibly be theirs, and it doesn’t matter. Great job on the feel-good ending…I had this love-hate relationship with the plot. Sometimes it felt like a little too much was going on and it started to get a little all-over-the-place.”

The Jeff & Ishan Show #15 – Kara

Just dropped! Our review of Kara, a 2026 Tamil-language heist movie starring Dhanush, and Mamitha Baiju, written by Alfred Prakash, Vignesh Raja & Gopal Ram, and directed by Vignesh Raja, streaming now on Netflix. Rated MA-14. Our original theme music by Ano Malee. Tune in for a big time!

“The entire thing was super-captivating. There were some action sequences, fights, that were a little overblown, almost RRR-ish or old fashioned martial arts movies…It’s really the performances that carry the movie, and it’s really the old people. They’re just outstanding. They’re really nuanced. I was a lot more interested in their lives than I was in the main plot of the film. It was just amazing because of their charismatic performances.”

The Jeff & Ishan Show #14 – Toaster

Tune in for a big time! Our review of Toaster, a 2026 Hindi-language black comedy starring Rajkummar Rao, Sanya Malhotra and Archana Puran Singh, written by Parveez Shaikh, Akshat Ghildial and Anagh Mukherjee, and directed by Vivek Daschaudary, streaming now on Netflix. Rated MA-14. Our original theme music by Ano Malee.

“It is about this very frugal man wo buys a toaster for a wedding gift and then the wedding gets canceled. He will do everything to try and get that toaster back, but of course it’s lost and he goes on a pretty big adventure…The humor is indeed black. This is a black comedy and it delivers the goods on that. The humor is almost Seinfeldian at times. It’s like Seinfeld meets Murder on the Orient Express.
