I had such a blast today giving a Zoom presentation, along with Drexel’s Associate Director of Global Partnerships Young-Min Park, to Drexel University faculty and administrators about my Fulbright experiences, how I approached the application, and resources for them to begin their own Fulbright journeys. Great way to start the weekend!
We had a wonderful time yesterday at the University of Pennsylvania‘s Van Pelt Library event hosted by Assistant Director of the Center for Global Collections and South Asian Studies Librarian James (Jef) Pierce, PhD.
Drexel University‘s Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Abhijit Chowdhury screened part 1 of his 4-part feature film he’s been editing here, The Strange Life of Dhrubo, with each vignette inspired by a different world-renowned Bengali painter. After the screening, I had a blast moderating a Q&A with Abhijit. What a great turnout!

Philly area Bengali theatre ensemble Kushilob, known for often writing collaboratively and exploring diverse theatre forms, is hosting Drexel’s first Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Abhijit Chowdhury who will be teaching a workshop on playwriting for actors this weekend. So glad that things like this are finally happening. A dream come true. Been working on “Project Bring Abhijit Chowdhury to Drexel” since 2019. I’d invite you all but it’s only for our Westphal Film & TV students. Abhijit, Drexel University’s first Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence, will be screening the first 3 episodes of his (writer-director) hit streaming series Astey Ladies!, known in some Indian markets as Salon de Paris, followed by a Q&A moderated by yours truly.
I first met Abhijit while acting on the set of his film Manbhanjan in 2019 while I was a Fulbright-Nehru Scholar to India.
