My name is Jeffrey Stanley. I’m 2018-19 Fulbright Scholar, an award-winning playwright, screenwriter, filmmaker and director. I was a 2014-15 recipient of an Amtrak Writers Residency and a 2015-16 Amtrak Writers Residency judge. Occasionally I also write book reviews, articles, and monologues thinly disguised as articles, for the Washington Post, New York Press, Brooklyn Rail, New York Times and Time Out New York. I’m a past president of the board of directors of the New York Neo-Futurists, a former Amherst College Copeland Fellow, a past fellow at Yaddo, and I was a 2011-12 PDC artist-in-residence at Plays & Players Theatre in Philadelphia. I’m currently developing a TV series with producers Matt Myers and Jason Sokoloff. I’m also working on a stage play about artist and and Navy Ensign Vernon “Copy” Berg, the first officer to legally challenge the US military for anti-gay discrimination, based on the book Get Off My Ship: Ensign Berg vs. the US Navy by E. Lawrence Gibson. I hold an MFA in Dramatic Writing and a BFA in Film & TV from NYU Tisch. If you’d like to know more about my work please visit www.brain-on-fire.com.
Many years ago, screenwriter Joe Vinciguerra and a few other close friends in college started calling me Jefe Von Stanley. It’s pure nonsense. The nickname stuck. This is Jefe’s House.
